Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualifications:
Technical Trades :
Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognized NCVT/SCVT institutions in specific trades (listed below).
OR Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the specified trades.
Diploma :
Matriculation / SSLC plus a three-year Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Automobile Engineering.
Combinations of various streams within these engineering disciplines from a recognized institution are also acceptable.
Degree :
A Degree in the Engineering disciplines mentioned above is acceptable in lieu of a Diploma.
Specified Technical Trades
The recognized trades for the ITI or Apprenticeship qualification include:
Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, and Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic.
Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Mechanic (Radio & TV), and Wireman.
Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), and Heat Engine.
Turner, Machinist, and Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Mechanic.
Age Limit (As of 01.07.2026):
The age limit is 18 to 30 years. Age relaxations are available for the following categories:
- SC & ST candidates: 5 Years.
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: 3 Years.
- Ex-servicemen: 3, 6, or 8 years (after deduction of service length) depending on category.
- Serving Group ‘C’ and erstwhile Group ‘D’ Railway Staff: Up to 40, 43, or 45 years depending on community.
Selection Process:
The recruitment process comprises five stages:
- First Stage CBT (CBT-1).
- Second Stage CBT (CBT-2).
- Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).
- Document Verification (DV).
- Medical Examination (ME).
The merit list will be prepared based on marks from Part-A of CBT-2 (50% weightage) and CBAT scores (50% weightage).
